As far as Christian movies go, this isn't the worst or most obnoxious and annoying one to watch, though it does become nearly unwatchable toward its end.

Thing that always confuses me about this sort of Christian propaganda movies is that I just don't understand who they are made for exactly. Are they made for Christans, to strengthen their faith further? (I don't see how this movie could do that) Or perhaps they are simply meant to bring some Christian themed entertainment to believers? (in that case, this movie would be doing an extremely poor job with it) Or is it meant to open people's eyes and turn nonbelievers into believers? (I don't see how this movie could convert anyone though) In either case, this movie is a far from effective or good enough one, for any sort of demographic out there.

It's not like Christian propaganda per definition is something bad or lame. I mean, it obviously still could work out but just not when you don't really have the skills or ideas to create a decent enough movie out of.

Problem is that this is a very poorly structured movie, that still was following a decent enough story for its first half but throws everything overboard during its second half. It's just a big jumbled mess to be frank. All of the story- and character development is gone, as the movie seems more concerned with telling and showing you all kinds of faith related stuff. And it's not like the movie is doing anything good or interesting with it either. How many movies are there out there in which the main characters starts off as a nonbeliever but slowly and steadily starts to 'see the light', as the movie progresses.

And really, it's doing everything in a far from involving way. I was actually quite bored throughout most part of the movie, also not in the least because it's very apparent, very early on already, what this movie is trying to do and tell and where it's heading at with its story and main character.

The movie tries to present itself like some sort of hip and action packed post-apocalyptic movie (the story involves the rapture, or well at least the buildup to it. If you want to see more of it, you need to wait for the sequel to come out apparently) but in truth, there is hardly any action in this movie at all. I also just don't get why this movie had to involve a very stereotypical and over-the-top, criminal, biker-gang, that you normally would expect to see in a "Mad Max" movie.

Perhaps, with God's will, the sequel is going to shed some more light on the mumbled messages of this movie and will answer some of the questions this movie leaves, though I don't really have much faith in it...

  1. To answer your question about wondering for who this movies is made. For people who are so brainwashed by zombie flicks, and have their minds so polluted by F-bombs and are so desensitized by screen violence that they will actually get shocked by bringing deeper questions to the movie crowd. 10/10

  2. Just like any other atheist, Stand for Nothing while putting down those who do. I am sure you have never read the Bible because if you did, you would realize they did a fair job in capturing what the Book of Revelation is conveying how it will be before Jesus returns to judge the world. You can argue this is all fairy tales and written by man but remember this one thing: You choose where you want to spend eternity. God does not force this upon anyone. If you have made your choice, live with it and quit putting others down, it doesn't lift you up one little bit. If you are going to make a judgement call on the Christian faith, be honest and actually read it 1st and sincerely ask GOD if Jesus is his Son and the Bible is true. Then expect to hear from him. "For I know the plans that I have for you,’ declares the LORD, ‘plans for welfare and not for calamity to give you a future and a hope. ‘Then you will call upon Me and come and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. ‘You will seek Me and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart." http://nasb.scripturetext.com/jeremiah/29.htm

  3. Because the media reports anything bad about the Catholic or Christian churches over and over again people especially the young ones today feel that it's OK to say what ever they want to. but when is the last time you seen on the news, even a small piece of anything bad about the Jewish church. You can't tell me that nothing bad ever happens in them. But when you control the media and a huge chunk of the movie market this is the kind of thing that happens. Seems like they learned from Nazi Germany's propaganda machine.

  4. A non-christian will never "get" what this is all about, it's just a fact. Any applied intelligence to Christianity is not applicable, you are either there or not. If not you'll never get what it's about. So, comment on the camera work, production etc but leave out what you can't know about, unless your an actual Christian and are making valuable comments that I didn't grasp, all good. You know hope isn't a bad thing, try not to spend to much time with Sam Harris or the late Chris Hitchens they are right but they never got it either.

  5. This movie send a disingenuous message. One scene shows a character killing several men, the next shows a scene saying "Jesus loves you".

I'll tell you exactly who this movie was made for. The producers' target for this movie was atheists who enjoy action films. So they figured, lets throw in some violence, and just sprinkle in some Biblical messages. Maybe this would work if the execution was subtle, but it pretty much slaps you in the face with its biblical messages. Anyone who already hold contempt towards organized religion will not like the how this movie tries to pull a fast one: "An action movie masquerading as Christian propaganda". <-- That pretty much sums this movie up.

Beyond the painfully obvious attempt to convert non-believers into believers, the story is atrocious and the acting is abysmal. I've seen better stories in saturday morning cartoons, and better acting in daily Soap Operas. The main antagonists are stereotypical bikers. They are the "Bad guys", and when they come on screen, the filmmakers put cheesy 80's rock music in the background to let us know they are bad people. Remember how cheesy 80's movies were? When the bad guy came on screen that cheesy music played? This movie has that.

This movie is terrible on so many levels. Don't watch it. If you want to watch a religious movie there are quality films you can watch. Go watch the Passion of the Christ, that movie is well done. This movie was trash.

  6. I love Jesus and hate this movie. Nice try Pure Flix. You are getting so close! There were some recognizable names/faces some decent action/fight scenes but it was just poorly written/executed. As a Christian I have come to expect bad Christian movies but does it really have to be that way? At least I can count on Kurt Cameron to entertain me. I think bobafett is pretty much right on. -Sarah
