There is absolutely nothing about this movie that looks or sounds original. The premise basically involves a bunch of persons going into an old abandoned drug rehab clinic, when of course strange things start to happen to them. It all sounds so terribly formulaic but you know what, the movie still surprisingly enough manages to work out as an original and decent enough one, despite everything.
No, I most definitely won't call this movie a great one or a must-see for the fans of horror but all things considering, things could have been a whole lot worse for this movie. It's made on an obviously low budget and not with the most talented people involved in front or behind the cameras but it yet never turns into a terrible movie to watch. On the contrary, the movie still has plenty to offer.
One of the things that I somewhat liked about this movie is how it's basically being a bit of everything. It's a bit of a ghost story, a bit of a slasher and it even hints at becoming a found footage movie at times. This approach ensures that there is plenty of variety throughout the movie, without ever turning into a completely clichéd and predictable one. Not that the movie ever stands out with anything but it at least definitely remains better to watch than just the average genre movie, made on a shoestring budget.
It's also a pretty decent looking movie, with a very dark but stylish and professional looking atmosphere. It's obvious to me that some real time and effort went into the making of this movie and it wasn't just a quick cash-grab for everyone involved with it.
This movie itself still remains a bit messy at parts as well though. The story has a few too many needless distractions in it and not everything get set up- or developed very well. Some story lines literally just end and don't quite add enough to the overall movie, which can also be said for some of its characters.
Not a great movie but at the same time, it's really not as formulaic and terrible as you most likely would expect it to be.
