(Review originally written at 19 June 2004)

The movie is a classic in every sense of the word.

The best things about film-noirs is always the atmosphere and "Out of the Past" is filled with fantastic atmosphere thanks to good sets, cinematography story and acting. All of these things combined make this movie one of the greatest of its kind.

The story is typically film-noir like and is full with some great and unexpected moments and twists.

The movie really comes to live thanks to some good actors and their characters. Robert Mitchum is on the roll as Jeff Bailey, aka Jeff Markham and so is Kirk Douglas in one of his first roles.

A real classic film noir!
