"Misery" is a really at times suspenseful thriller with some sequences that will put you on the edge of your seat.

The best thing about the movie is the cast, especially the two main characters of course. Kathy Bates plays what perhaps is the role of her life. It's great to see that James Caan can also play a non-gangster role. But I'm not always happy with his character throughout the whole movie. In my opinion he stayed too calm under the whole situation and didn't tried the maximum to escape. But I have the feeling this is more the directors fault. Maybe that a more experienced thriller director could have done a better job with the material.

This movie was by the way Barry Sonnenfeld's last as a cinematographer.

All in all a solid and recommendable thriller.

8/10
